We believe in
naming things
out loud.
Not softening them. Not reframing them into something more palatable. Naming what happened, clearly and without apology, is where recovery actually starts.
This brand was built in the aftermath.
Not in a boardroom. Not as a market opportunity. In the specific, unglamorous space after a relationship ends and you are left trying to figure out what exactly just happened to you, who you were before it, and how much of yourself you are going to have to rebuild.
Burn That Karma exists because that space deserves better than vague self-help and generic wellness. It deserves something that says: I see what happened. I know what it's called. And here is something you can hold in your hands while you figure out what comes next.
We make candles. But more than that, we make language. We take experiences that are difficult to name, experiences that often come with a side order of shame, confusion and self-doubt, and we put them on a label. We say the word. We make it possible for you to say it too.
"The moment you can name what happened to you, it stops having the power of something unnamed. That is not the end of the work. But it is the beginning of it."
Every candle in the Burn That Karma range is built around a specific emotional experience. Not a vague feeling. A specific, nameable moment in the arc of coming out of something hard and finding your way back to yourself. The name on the label is the point. It is not decoration.
Two stages. One journey.
Recovery from a toxic relationship is not a single event. It is a process with distinct phases, and those phases feel fundamentally different from each other. We built two collections to reflect that.
The first phase is about recognition. Calling it what it was. Allowing yourself to be angry, clear-eyed, and done. Drama Detox is for the moment you stop making excuses and start telling the truth.
- Narcissist Recovery
- Red Flag Alert
The second phase is about construction. Deciding who you are now. Reclaiming your space, your voice, your taste for a quieter, better life. Healing Era is for the work of becoming.
- Main Character Energy
- Peace is the New Drama
The two collections are designed to be used in sequence, but they do not require it. Some people need to spend a long time in Drama Detox before they are ready for Healing Era. Some arrive already past the anger and begin in the rebuild. Some move back and forth. The candles work wherever you are.
What both collections share is the refusal to make things soft when they should be clear. Narcissist Recovery does not say "healing journey." Main Character Energy does not say "self-care." We use the words that actually describe the experience, because precision is kindness, and vagueness helps no one.
Why a candle. Why ritual.
We get this question. In a world full of therapy apps, podcasts and self-help frameworks, why a candle? The answer is that a candle does something none of those things can do: it marks a moment in physical space.
Ritual is not spiritual performance. It is the deliberate creation of a signal, a moment you have decided means something. Humans have used fire and light for this purpose for as long as there have been humans. The act of lighting something, watching it burn, and being present in that moment is one of the oldest forms of intention-setting there is. We did not invent this. We just gave it a name that makes sense for where you actually are right now.
When you light a candle called Narcissist Recovery, you are saying something to yourself. Something that might have taken months to say out loud. The name on the jar is the mirror. Sometimes that is what you needed first.
Scent is the most direct route to the emotional brain. A fragrance associated with a moment of clarity, of rest, of deliberate self-reclamation, becomes a sensory anchor for that state. The body remembers what the mind sometimes forgets.
Lighting it is a choice. You chose to do something for yourself, in this moment, on purpose. That is not nothing. Small, repeated acts of self-direction rebuild the habit of treating your own time as valuable. That habit matters.
A candle creates a finite, bounded period of time that belongs to you. While it burns, this is your moment. Not a notification, not a responsibility, not someone else's need. Yours. That boundary is simple, and it is real.
We are not in the business of selling magic. A candle will not fix what a relationship broke. It will not do the work that therapy, time and honest self-reflection do. What it will do is create a moment, repeatedly, where you signal to yourself: this time is mine. I am worth a lit room and a scent I chose for myself. Over time, that accumulates. It is not nothing.
"A ritual is not the work. It is the space you create around the work. And sometimes, the space is what makes the work possible."
A few things we refuse to be.
The wellness industry has a habit of coating difficult things in soft language until they are unrecognisable. We have no interest in that. Here is what Burn That Karma is not, and will not become.
- PreachyWe are not here to tell you what to do, how fast to heal, or what your recovery should look like. We have opinions. We share them directly. But we do not lecture, and we do not moralize. You are an adult who has already survived something difficult. You do not need a brand talking down to you.
- Vague"Empowerment." "Wellness." "Positive energy." These words mean almost nothing and they help almost no one. We use specific language because specific language is honest, and because the women we make these candles for are not well-served by comfortable generalities. If it's about narcissistic abuse, we say narcissistic abuse.
- A replacement for real helpA candle is a candle. It is a beautiful, intentional object that can hold meaning and create ritual. It is not therapy, and we will never pretend otherwise. If you are in a difficult situation, please also talk to someone. We are a complement to the real work, not a substitute for it.
- PerformativeWe are not interested in building a brand that looks like healing while being primarily about aesthetics. The design matters. The quality of the product matters. But the reason these candles exist is not to look good on a shelf. It is to mean something to the person who lights them.
- For everyoneBurn That Karma is for a specific person going through a specific kind of experience. Not everyone will connect with what we make, and that is fine. We would rather mean a great deal to the right people than mean very little to a very large number of people. The women who get it, get it completely.
The candle is just the beginning.
